About

Welcome!

Hey there! My name is Johanna and I am the artist behind JauntWraps. I am a firm believer of the importance of individuality and self-expression. What better way is there to achieve this than to adorn yourself in wearable art?

Art has always been a passion of mine. Ever since I was little, I always knew I wanted to be an artist. Throughout the years, I dabbled in many different mediums including drawing, painting, sculpting, knitting and crocheting, and all kinds of other crafts. Painting had always been my favorite- until I discovered the art of wire wrapping. When I was younger, I would go to the craft store to get all kinds of fun crafts including jewelry making supplies to make cute little things like elastic bracelets and charmed earrings. One day, while going through my old art supplies, I found some pliers, a few scraps of wire, and some "practice"pendants that my glassblower friends had given me. In that moment, I felt inspired to play around with those few materials and I decided to try something a little different. I used the pliers and scraps of wire to adorn these glass pendants to create a whole new layer of self-expression. I decided to order a bunch of supplies to make more; and that’s when I discovered what wire wrapping was. I had never even heard about wire wrapping before so I was ecstatic to discover a whole new medium that I didn’t know existed. It became my primary hobby and I would have so much fun making unique gifts for friends and family. Soon, people started expressing interest in buying my pieces. The thought of selling my work never really occurred to me; I just loved doing it for fun. After selling a few pieces to friends and family, I decided to create an online presence to share my work- and that’s when JauntWraps was created.

After a few years of building my business and improving my skills, I discovered another medium that I fell in love with: electroforming. I remember the first time I ever saw an electroformed piece of art, and I thought to myself, “Wow, I need to learn how to do that”. So, naturally, I impulsively bought all the materials I needed to start electroforming. I was so excited to start, but I didn’t realize how difficult and complex the process would be. See the Electroforming page to learn more about the intricate chemical process. After many months of research and trial and error, I finally felt comfortable with this new medium and I was finally ready to execute the ideas and designs I had built up in my head. The possibilities with electroforming are endless and I was so excited to explore all the different things I could do with it.

I love being able to combine my interests in art, science, and nature to create unique and one-of-a-kind pieces of wearable art. My artwork is heavily inspired by the elements of nature and I often incorporate gemstones, insects, foliage, and natural metals into my work. In creating my art, I strive to emphasize the beauties of nature and to inspire others to explore their artistic abilities.

I feel so lucky to have been able to turn my passion into a business that allows me to share my artwork with the world. I am incredibly thankful to have the all the support from my friends, family, other artists, my customers, and anyone who has shared my work or provided words of encouragement. Thank you for visiting my website and helping me continue doing what I love.

Much love,

Johanna
